Co-curricular Programming
Undeclared students are required to attend a number of programs as part of the freshman seminar, Connections and Decisions, INTU100. The programs are designed to assist students in their exploration of majors in the College of Arts and Sciences:
Meet the Majors Fair, Fall Kickoff Event
Faculty and students from all Arts and Sciences departments gather at tables around Centennial Common early in the fall semester. This is an outdoor event which introduces undeclared students to the wide variety of majors available to them. Students are encouraged to visit majors that interest them to ask faculty and students questions which will help them gather information on majors that the College offers.
"What's in a Major?" Wednesdays
The College of Arts and Sciences offers a weekly programming series during the fall semester designed to provide information on specific majors to interested students. These programs are entitled "What's in a Major Wednesdays" and are held at noon in 20 Stetson East. Undeclared students have the opportunity to listen to faculty, students and co-op coordinators from different majors talk about their experiences both in and outside the classroom.
What former students have had to say about their experiences with these programs:
"The "What's in a Major Wednesdays" programs were the most informative because they presented an opportunity to meet upperclassmen in a certain major and talk with them. It served as a good introduction if you attended one about a major that you may not have been interested in previously."
"The "What's in a Major?" sessions were both informative and beneficial. I attended the psychology and the sociology/cultural anthropology sessions. They made me more excited about looking into each of these majors and they gave me a heads up about what to expect in the years to come if I do choose the major."

Peer Mentor Program
Peer Mentors are students already in majors who are available to provide support and service for undeclared first-year students as they explore academic options and make the adjustment to college life. Peer Mentors will visit INTU100 – Connections and Decisions classes to talk with undeclared students about their own experiences in their majors and on campus. There will also be two ‘Meet the Mentors’ programs in October to give students a chance to connect and learn more about our mentoring program. For more information about this program, contact Kim Irmiter or Jan Swindlehurst in the Center for Academic Services in 1 Meserve at 617-373-3980.
Meet the Mentors: October 9 and 23 from 3-4 in 20 Stetson East
Residence Hall Living/Learning Community
The Living/Learning Community (LLC), located in Stetson West Residence Hall, serves as an integrated social and academic support program for undeclared first-year students in the College of Arts and Sciences. Each year about 50 students choose to live in the LLC and where they take some of their courses in a classroom in the residence hall. In addition, a variety of community building, social, and academic programs are offered throughout the year to help students adjust to college life, connect to one another, succeed academically, and choose a major. Students enjoy being a part of the "Undeclared" community, supporting each other towards the right decision.
