Why Students Enroll As Undeclared
There are many reasons why students come to college without declaring a major. Some of the reasons are:
- They don't know enough about the majors that are offered;
- They have multiple interests and need time to sample courses in different disciplines. They need more specific information on academic or career paths in order to narrow down their choices;
- They are just not ready to commit to a major;
- They know what major they want but were unable to get into it for one reason or another.
Components of the Program
If one of these reasons describes why you haven't chosen your major, we hope you will take advantage of the resources available in the Program for Undeclared Students and find the right major by the end of your freshman or beginning of your sophomore year.
First year students who are enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences and who have not yet decided upon or officially declared a major are a part of the Program for Undeclared Students. The goal of this program is to provide support and guidance to you as you go through the process of choosing the major that is right for you.
